Math-a-thon: Thursday 8th August
Broadgreen Intermediate School
Math-a-thon
2013
Rationale: Basic facts results overall are
low and all students
Objective: To boost BIS students’ recall of
basic facts recall within a House Competition, that hopefully will be
self-motivating.
-
Math-a-thon will be the main
homework focus for Weeks 1 and 2.
-
Teachers will determine
students’ appropriate level and each student will take home a Basic Facts Sheet
that they will endeavor to master by Thursday Week 2; the Math-a-thon
competition date.
-
Each stage differentiated
accordingly.
-
Teachers can allocate daily
basic practice to help students prepare for the Math-a-thon competition if they
wish.
-
The winning house will be
awarded the Math-a-thon Trophy and points will go towards the overall House
Competition.
-
Students will get house points
as outlined below in the Thursday (Math-a-thon competition).
-
Copies of the Math-a-thon are
available on our BIS Maths Blog.
